This Privacy Policy explains what data Great Wi-Fi Names collects when you use our free Wi-Fi name generator and how we handle it. We built this site to help you pick a fun network name (your SSID can be up to 32 characters under the IEEE 802.11 wireless standard), and we keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the site and understand traffic. We do not sell your personal information, and we never ask you to create an account.
What data we collect
We collect very little. The Wi-Fi names you generate or browse stay in your browser and are not sent to us or stored on our servers.
The data that does reach us is limited to standard, mostly anonymous information: basic analytics about page visits, your approximate region (derived from your IP, not stored as a precise location by us), the type of device and browser you use, and the pages you view. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We do not knowingly collect names, payment details, or precise location.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files a website can store in your browser. Some of the tools we use set cookies, and some are deliberately cookieless. Below we list each tool, what it does, and whether it uses cookies.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking cookies will not break the Wi-Fi name generator, which runs entirely in your browser.
Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to count visits and understand which pages are useful. GA4 is configured with IP anonymization, and the script loads only after you interact with the page, not on first paint.
GA4 uses cookies to recognize returning visits in aggregate. For visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, GA4 loads only after you give consent through our consent banner. If you decline, GA4 is not loaded. We use this data only to see traffic trends, never to identify you personally.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and cookieless. It measures page views and performance without setting cookies and without building a profile of you across sites.
Because it does not use cookies or fingerprinting, this tool collects no personal information that could identify you and requires no consent banner of its own.
Our own privacy-friendly analytics beacon
We also run our own privacy-friendly analytics beacon. It is first-party, anonymous, and cookieless, and it simply records that a page was viewed.
This beacon does not set cookies, does not store an identifier in your browser, and does not track you from site to site. We use it only for an internal tally of how many times pages load.
Google AdSense and advertising
Once we begin showing ads, we plan to use Google AdSense, which sets cookies and may use them for ad personalization. Until ads are live, no advertising cookies are set by AdSense.
When ads run, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. For visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, ad personalization and any non-essential ad cookies are governed by the consent choices Google presents, so you can accept or reject them. You can also review and adjust ad settings through Google Ads Settings.
Amazon Associates affiliate links
Some pages may include Amazon affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you.
When you click one of these links, Amazon may set its own cookies and track the visit so any resulting purchase is credited to us. That tracking is handled by Amazon under Amazon's own privacy policy, not by us. We never see your Amazon account details or what you buy.
How we use your data
We use the limited data we collect to run the site, measure traffic, improve the generator, and (once ads run) support the site through advertising. If you email us, we use your message only to reply.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not combine our analytics into a profile that identifies you by name.
Your rights in the EU and UK (GDPR)
If you are in the EU or UK, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Where we rely on consent (for example, GA4 and personalized ads), you can withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the email address shown below. For analytics and advertising that depend on consent, you can also change your choices through our consent banner or Google's consent controls.
Browser opt-outs (outside the EEA)
If you are outside the EEA, UK, and Switzerland and want to limit tracking, you can use browser-level opt-outs in addition to clearing cookies. These give you direct control regardless of any banner.
- Google Analytics opt-out: install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to stop GA4 from measuring your visits.
- Google ad personalization: open Google Ads Settings to turn off personalized ads.
- Cookies: block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
California privacy rights (CCPA): Do Not Sell or Share
We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not exchange your data for money, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising in a way that would require a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" opt-out.

Children's privacy (COPPA)
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The Wi-Fi name generator is meant for a general audience.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the site grows or as our tools change. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
